a week with Sumayya

I had fun with Sumayya this week. In the morning, Sumayya works on her co-op assignments It was fun to see how much she learns at her Joy in Learning class. We spent some of the afternoon practicing volleyball in the backyard.Sumayya goes to her volleyball class twice a week.
She showed me how to set, pass, spike and serve the ball.
Sumayya also goes to a Yoga class. After a full week, both Sumayya and I needed some Yoga. it was so relaxing.

Spending time with Bella....

This week I had adventures in going to soccer games and ballet classes. I also met Bella's French tutor and learned how to match socks. I got to meet all of Bella's family at her grandfather's 70th birthday party! She has a big family, and we all had a fun day celebrating with everyone.

My week at Esther's house

Here are some pictures from my fun week with Esther.
Do you know where we went? Have you been there?
We picked apples and planned to make an apple pie. The apples never made it into a pie as we ate them all up. There were lots of pumpkins there too. A parrot could lose himself looking for the perfect pumpkin.

We also had lots of time at Esther's house. I met other local parrots. I did some swinging. I also waited for harvest. It is an early corn harvest this year. They let me in on everything including homework and fevers. Don't worry...no bird flu here.

I can't wait to come back again to visit Selah.

Enjoy the pictures.

breaking the fast -yay

Now is the best part of the evening-breaking the fast(Iftar).
I noticed that Amina performs her fasting at sunrise and breaks her fast at sunset.
it's now about 7:30 pm and Amina's mom made sure to fix Amina's favorite dishes.

Good Bye Safia

I got to meet Amina's long time friend (Safia)for the last time as she's leaving to Morocco with her parents to live.
Safia's father is from Pakistan and her mother is from Russia.I could see that Amina is close friend to safia and it's a big loss for her.

prayer room

Amina brought me inside the prayer room. I see how everyone is standing quietly and respectfully as they performing their evening prayers behind the Imam(the leader of the prayer). This goes on for about 5 mintues.
